Flock of Chairs

A flock of chairs
These sleek and cuddly chairs invite you to blissfully sink in. A warm and comfortable experience. The use of honest materials form an integral part of this. This flock of chairs is made of sheepskin from the Drenthe heath sheep that graze on the Balloërveld heath - herded by the shepherds of Balloo.

The woollen seat provides plenty of natural comfort. Wool holds air very well, which makes it a good thermal insulator. The insulating outer layer ensures a sheep does not lose body heat. In summer, the woollen coat prevents warmth from coming in from outside. Sitting in this chair, you will experience the same comfort: cool in summer, warm in winter.

Product
Each chair has a different coat and is therefore unique in colour and appearance, as every animal in the flock is also unique. The appearance of the coat can vary from long to short hair or straight to curly. The colours vary from white to cream, brown or gray / black. The frame of the chairs is made of different types of native wood, a mixture of elm, apple, oak.

Shepherds of Balloo
The Shepherds of Balloo manage the Balloërveld for the National Forest Service in the Netherlands. The deployment of a migratory flock of sheep is important for the landscape, they contribute to the strengthening of ecological green structure of a region. Sheep provide natural, structured vegetation. They can graze in places where maintenance is almost impossible. Through their coats, hooves and manure the sheep transport seeds of plants which are an important factor in the restoration of the ecological infrastructure.
